Paramount to increase global armoured vehicle output through expanded Indian partnership
Paramount is set to broaden its global development and production capacity with Indian manufacturing partners.
UAE-headquartered aerospace and technology corporation Paramount, has announced the expansion of its development and manufacturing partnership with the Indian industrial conglomerate, Bharat Forge Ltd, and its subsidiary Kalyani Strategic Systems, in order to foster the expansion of the company’s global reach and range of armoured vehicles to serve its global customers.
The existing industrial partnership between the company and the India-based engineering and technology conglomerate Bharat Forge Ltd and its subsidiary, Kalyani Strategic Systems, began in 2021. According to Paramount, the association between the two companies has thus far resulted in the successful development and production of large volumes of the locally-produced KM4 armoured vehicles for the Indian Army.
The extended partnership between the companies, says Paramount, looks to further leverage the strong industrial capabilities and engineering excellence of Kalyani Strategic Systems to develop and manufacture armoured vehicles for Paramount’s customers not just in India, but across the globe. The move is in step with the firm’s continuing global expansion efforts and its ongoing production expansion strategy.
“The global armoured vehicle market is undergoing a monumental shift and within such a dynamic environment, our partnership with Kalyani Strategic Systems has become ever more strategic,” said Paramount Global CEO Steve Griessel.
The broadened cooperation, Paramount says, will encompass the manufacturing of combat vehicles for Paramount’s customers across the globe. “We are excited to broaden our partnership to include the development and production of 4×4 and 6×6 Infantry Combat Vehicles for customers around the world. We are very proud that our partnership is growing from strength to strength,” said Mr. Griessel.
For Bharat Forge, the firm’s ongoing collaboration with Paramount demonstrates not only its own capabilities, but also the country’s defence manufacturing prowess. “We at Kalyani Strategic Systems have come a long way in developing and scaling-up our manufacturing of world class defence platforms and reliable specialist vehicle platforms with our deep technical and industrialization expertise,” stated Neelesh Tungar, President, Defence, Bharat Forge Ltd. “This continuing and growing partnership with Paramount substantiates the fact that the world considers India being ready to be “the manufacturing capital” for the global defence industry.”
Expertise on both sides
Created in South Africa in 1994, Paramount has since become a global company trading in 25 countries that has built its defence capabilities across the globe. The Marauder, the firm’s first armoured vehicle was first launched in 2006 and Paramount now boasts a world-class family of powerful armoured and mine-protected vehicles including the MBOMBE 8, the MBOMBE 6, and the MBOMBE 4 combat vehicles, as well as the Maverick security vehicle and the MAATLA new generation level 1 protection vehicle.
Paramount has built its solid global track record, the company maintains, by creating independent, indigenous defence capacity and establishing capabilities for governments through the licensing of the intellectual property it has developed over the course of 29 years, transferring technology to governements, and implementing quick remote manufacturing facilities in their countries.
Partner firm Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd is a 100% subsidiary of Bharat Forge Limited and was founded as a key company to drive the group’s defence business initiatives. With expertise in design, engineering, metallurgy, and manufacturing spanning over five decades, Kalyani has become one of India’s leading defence players.
Bharat Forge Limited is the flagship company belonging to the USD 3 billion Kalyani Group and a global provider of high performance, innovative, safety and critical components and solutions for various sectors such as automotive, railways, defence, construction and mining, aerospace, marine, and oil and gas.
