Avon Protection launches new Exoskin-S1 CBRN protective suit

Avon Protection introduces the latest addition to its range of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense (CBRN) protective wear, the EXOSKIN-S1 protective suit

The British firm specialised in protective equipment for military, law enforcement, and fire personnel, Avon Protection, has made what it deems a “pivotal addition” to its range of CBRN protective gear with the launch of its new CBRN protective suit, the Exoskin-S1.

Comprehensive protection for extended periods

Designed to deliver advanced protective capabilities for individuals operating in a CBRN threat environment and meeting the rigorous NATO AEP-38 standard, the EXOSKIN-S1 protective suit offers unmatched defence against vapour, liquid and particulate Chemical Warfare Agents (CWA), Toxic Industrial Chemical (TIC), and biological threats, the company says.

Avon Protection’s new CBRN protective suit also gives the wearer continuous protection for extended operational durations of up to 24 hours at a time. In addition, the suit integrates with Avon Protection’s range of other Exoskin CBRN protective clothing and respiratory systems while maximising the safety, comfort, and agility of operators in the field.

One-stop shopping for CBRN equipment

The Exoskin-S1 suit completed its MIST testing to achieve the AEP-38 standard as part of Avon Protection’s integrated outer protection ensemble, which includes Exoskin boots and gloves. Achieving the AEP-38 standard means that users are now able to purchase a full-body CBRN protective system from a single supplier, in addition to Avon Protection’s range of CBRN respirators and accessories.

“Our goal is to take full responsibility for the entire protection system by controlling the design, integration, and performance of all the components needed to keep personnel safe while operating in complex CBRN environments,” said Justin Hine, Director of Strategy and Capability at Avon Protection. “In doing so, we are approaching the CBRN protection market in a novel way: users can acquire their life-protecting ensemble equipment from a single supplier who is accountable for the entire CBRN equipment ecosystem, all while benefiting from the superior safety and assurance of the Avon Protection brand they know and trust,” he added.

Comfortable and secure

Engineered with a cotton poly outer layer and activated carbon inner lining, Avon Protection’s Exoskin-S1 protective suit features an integrated hood with a double elasticated opening for a secure fit around the wearer’s respirator.

Hook and loop adjustable tabs on the lower legs, and an inner leg gaiter with stirrup protect the wearer’s ankles, while a unique smart layer design with a thumb loop provides protection at their wrists. In addition, the suit features two jacket zip designs with hook and loop fastening for improved integration with the user’s body armour.

A wide range of CBRN protection products

Avon Protection already boasts an extensive line of CBRN protective gear, including Exoskin boots and gloves, for which the company has garnered NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) contracts.

Apart from the firm’s CBRN protective clothing, Avon Protection also offers a range of CBRN respiratory technologies, which include air purifying respirators (APRs), escape devices, powered air purifying respirators (PAPR), and self-contained rreathing apparatus (SCBA). These technologies are currently delivering protection to over four million users worldwide.

In a recent procurement deal, the protective equipment maker’s C50 protective mask and MP-PAPR multi-position powered air purifying respirator were selected by the Swedish Police Authority under a seven-year contract with partner Promoteq. Moreover, the firm signed another important European contract in January with the German Navy. Under the agreement, Avon Protection is set to supply its Multi-Role Rebreather, a device used for military diving operations.
