ASELSAN highlights mission critical communication solutions and public security systems at Milipol Qatar 2024
In conversation with Milipol Daily, ASELSAN President and CEO Ahmet Akyol discussed some of the ground-breaking solutions the company is bringing forward at this year’s show
With over 500 existing products in multiple categories and ongoing research into new technological developments, ASELSAN has no shortage of new and up-and-coming innovations.
What products and technologies is ASELSAN showcasing at this edition of Milipol Qatar?
We are participating in Milipol Qatar with examples of some of our latest technologies. We are highlighting our mission critical communication solutions and public security systems. ASELSAN’s İHASAVAR anti-drone RF jammer system, İHTAR anti-drone system, MİRKET Pocket Receiver, KOVAN suitcase GSM Jammer System, and examples of our handheld radios and mobile radios are some of the innovations on display at our stand.
Which of ASELSAN’s flagship products are currently gaining attention, and how do these innovations address modern security challenges?
ASELSAN has more than 500 products in different domains supplied to 88 countries globally. Just to name a few, our ASELFLIR-500 camera, which we exported for the first time this year and which is in the mass production phase, has attracted a lot of attention as one of the most qualified cameras used in UCAVs. Our AESA nose radar MURAD 110-A is compatible not only with F-16s but also with platforms such as KIZILELMA, AKINCI, HÜRJET, and is receiving a lot of interest from end users as well.
Our guidance kits and TOLUN guided munition and naval systems such as MARLİN, GÖKDENİZ; DÜFAS, and DERİNGÖZ are attracting a lot interest in the region and particularly from the Gulf countries. ASELSAN also plays a critical role in the airspace control and air defence system developed by Türkiye with domestic technology and which has three main pillars consisting of sensors, command and control systems, and weapon systems. Recently, we launched our new anti-drone systems KORKUT 25 mm remote controlled weapon system and unmanned turret, the BUKALEMUN GNSS spoofing system, KANGAL FPV jamming system, and SEDA 100 cUAV acoustic detection system; and our new electronic warfare pods ANTIDOT 2 U LB/MB/HB, ANTIDOT 2 U, and ANTIDOT 2 U/S.
ASELSAN is renowned for its high-tech solutions across various sectors. What new technologies or innovative systems are under development that could have a significant impact in the coming years?
At ASELSAN, we’re working on a wide range of technologies, from telecommunications and information technology to radar, guidance, avionics, electro-optics, defence systems, as well as transportation, energy, health, and smart systems. We’re always keeping an eye on the latest advancements in these areas and directing our efforts to ensure we stay ahead in these fields. We focus on promising technologies such as quantum, artificial intelligence, and advanced materials and we have a strong R&D team constantly developing innovations in-house.
Expansion in the Middle East
ASELSAN is pursuing its expansion on a global scale, and with two new affiliate offices in the Middle East and local manufacturing facilities, it has a clear focus on the region. “In addition to our presence in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan, we aim to strengthen our presence in the region with the new offices we have opened in the United Arab Emirates and Oman,” Mr Akyol affirms.
With the wide range of products ASELSAN is already offering to countries in the region, including avionics systems and cockpit solutions, guidance kits, electro-optics, communication, radar, electronic warfare, and navigation systems, as well as the space systems solutions it is preparing to provide, the company is looking to further grow its presence. “Our increasing footprint in the region will enable us to establish closer and more sustainable relationships with our customers, thus increasing customer satisfaction to higher levels. We believe our growth in the region will also contribute significantly to local economies.”
