Thales, present at Milipol Qatar this year, is a leading provider of Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) technology in both the military and civil domains with modular offerings designed to protect against dangerous and malicious drones. While the majority of unmanned flights are used to inspect sensitive sites and carry out surveillance of property, there are some that may threaten public safety. Together with CS group, Thales has worked with partners within Europe’s defence base to develop capabilities built on the French PARADE programme and provide permanent deployable protection through its advanced counter-drone system.
The company’s integrated anti-drone capabilities provide a context-sensitive response to high-risk, dangerous unmanned systems in the airspace and can protect key civil and military locations, or forces in the field.
The C-UAS system based on PARADE from Thales provides permanent 360° protection and is designed for easy transport, increasing its scope and speed of deployment. This solution could also be used for combined civil-military operations, for example to protect critical infrastructure such as military bases.
Thales’ C-UAS solutions detect drones in time to identify and track them, and determine if they are a threat. They also have the ability to neutralise those that pose a risk. The company’s scalable and cyber-secured solutions are constantly reviewed, as Thales’ clients face rapidly evolving threats.
For airports, Thales offers an agile system for drone detection using Gamekeeper radar, which is able to detect and classify drones at long distances (+7.5km). On the battlefield, the company offers responses to counter the threat of drones as part of its ground-based air defence (GBAD) solutions. Thales also supplies commercial and civil organisations.
